Australia's Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi Chef de Mission Mr. Steve Moneghetti has said the organisers should be congratulated and not castigated. A former Commonwealth Games champion marathon runner, he has encouraged Australia's team to cast aside fears about Delhi and embrace the October multi-sports event.

Mr. Moneghetti was bullish about the Delhi Games. “People ask me ‘Oh, they're way behind’. They're actually going fine from an Indian perspective,” he said. “It's just internationally that we're all worried. It will have a quite unique spin on it and that will make it a really cultural experience.”

The Queen’s Baton 2010 Delhi’s exciting journey across India continued on Tuesday when it crisscrossed Goa and received a tremendous welcome across the State.

Governor Mr. Shivinder Singh Sidhu, Chief Minister Mr. Digambad Kamath and Minister of Sport Mr. Manohar Asgaonkar, football heroes like goalkeeper Brahamanand Sankhwalkar and Portunan Franco and Goa Olympic Association President Subhash Shirodkar were among those who led the celebrations sparked off by the arrival of the baton.

The team left Karwar in Karnataka in the morning, with school children lined up on the streets to see off the baton. On arrival at the Karnataka-Goa border, the Goa Olympic Association, Mr Asgaonkar and Goa’s first Arjuna Award winning footballer Brahamanand Sankhwalkar received the baton. Local dancers performed ghodi mandi and Konkan dances.
