What is Canadian border fee?

This fee is levied by the carriers to cross the border between the US and Canada, goods onboard on the truck are cleared instantly via PARS or moved in bond to the carrier facility to await clearance. This fee IS NOT A Customs Entry Fee. The transborder trucking service does NOT INCLUDE a Customs Entry in the rate. Your consignee must arrange for a customs broker to clear the shipment. Its a best practice to call your consignee before you ship and find out who their Customs Broker is and get their details. You can then enter that in the special instructions section of the Bill of lading at time of booking. If you do not enter a customs broker in the special instructions the carrier will attempt to call the consignee to find out who their broker is. In some cases, this will delay the shipment. Additionally, if they cannot get a hold of someone they may just move the shipment to the destination terminal in bond and charge you additional fees for moving the cargo in bond. ExFreight can arrange both US and Canadian customs entries for you for an additional fee.
