FTL (full truckload) trucking is a dedicated trailer for one shipper, typically 10,000-44,000 lbs of freight on a 48ft or 53ft trailer. No terminal handling, no shared space, direct point-to-point delivery. FTL is faster than LTL and cheaper per lb on large loads, and is the right choice for full or near-full trailer shipments, fragile freight, or time-critical loads.
FTL (full truckload) uses an entire dedicated trailer for one shipper. LTL (less-than-truckload) shares one trailer between several shippers. FTL is faster (no terminal handling), better for fragile or large loads (no transloading), and cheaper per lb on full loads. LTL is cheaper on small loads (you pay only for the space you use). Volume LTL sits between them for 6-15 pallet shipments.
FTL rates are quoted per lane. A typical dry van full truckload runs roughly $2-$4 per loaded mile depending on lane balance, fuel, season and equipment. A coast-to-coast US dry van load can range $3,000-$6,000; a short regional lane $800-$1,500. Specialized equipment (reefer, flatbed) carries a premium. Run an instant quote on ExFreight to see real bookable rates on your lane.
ExFreight books every standard FTL equipment type: 48ft and 53ft dry van, refrigerated (reefer), flatbed, step-deck, Conestoga, heavy-haul, hot shot, expedited van, power-only and team service. Maximum dimensions are 100″ wide × 110″ tall × 53ft long. Specialized equipment is priced on the same instant-rate platform.
ExFreight also books straight trucks, hot shots, and team service on demand. FMCSA-authorized with TIA membership.

A standard 53ft dry van holds 26 standard 48″×40″ pallets in a single layer, or up to 52 pallets when double-stacked. A 48ft trailer holds 24 single-stacked or 48 double-stacked. Maximum payload is roughly 44,000 lbs depending on tractor weight and tire ratings. For loads under 26 pallets, Volume LTL or partial truckload may be more cost-effective.
