Important Update: U.S. Import Duty and Tax Procedures

U.S. import duty rates are changing rapidly, with new rules and guidelines being issued on a daily basis. It’s critical to stay informed of the latest developments and to ensure that all information provided for imported commodities is accurate so that a correct customs entry can be filed.

Customs Entry Amendments

  • Once a customs entry is submitted, there is an approximate 7-day window to make amendments before payment is processed.

  • After duty and tax have been paid, an amendment can still be filed for up to ~300 days from the entry date. However, please note:

    • Refunds from U.S. Customs can take up to 6 months.

    • Refunds are issued only to the importer of record, not to brokers or agents.

Customer Responsibilities

To help avoid delays or complications, we strongly encourage customers to:

  • Review your customs duty and tax bill in the Exfresso system immediately after clearance.

  • Notify our Import Team or Customer Service right away if you see any inconsistencies or incorrect values.

Important Reminder

Once duty and tax have been paid to U.S. Customs, the refund process is out of our control. Since refunds are issued only to the importer of record, we will require full payment of the duty and tax bill as invoiced.
